CUTTING EDGE PERIODONTAL OFFICES IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD AND WASHINGTON, DC

TECHNOLOGY

Dr. Boquel ranks among the most experienced periodontal and implant surgeons in the Washington, DC area. Washingtonian Magazine and Washington Checkbook have both ranked him, on multiple occasions, among the top dentists and periodontists in the Washington DC metropolitan area. Additionally, between his two offices, more than 600 implants are placed annually and we cannot be more proud of the beautiful smiles that are created as a result. But we are also proud of the technology and techniques we utilize to provide the best periodontal and implant experience possible. The tools and techniques help us be more accurate and efficient, with minimal discomfort and pain, in order to improve your overall dental health.

DIGITAL X-RAYS

Dr. Boquel’s offices only use digital x-rays. Digital x-rays typically use about 80% less radiation than standard x-rays which is safer for the patient. In addition, our digital x-ray system allows us to manipulate, measure and evaluate the images with pin-point accuracy through the use of our imaging program. Finally, our office can easily and quickly email these digital x-rays to your general dentist or any other health care practitioner.

3-D X-RAYS

Dr. Boquel is able to take three Dimensional X-rays (also called Cone Beam Computed Tomography or simply CBCT). These CBCT images are useful tools that are quickly becoming important to the modern dental office. They allow accurate evaluation of remaining dental bone available for dental implants and they help to identify vital tooth, oral and other head structures to avoid when placing dental implants. A CBCT can also be incredibly useful in diagnosing other periodontal/dental conditions.

3-D GUIDED SURGERY

Dr. Boquel was an early advocate of 3-D Guided Surgery. He can have an “in-mouth” guide fabricated using a 3-D x-ray scan of your jaw as well as optical impressions of your existing mouth architecture. These in-mouth guides are particularly helpful with complicated surgeries or dental implants. The advantages to this guided surgery include shorter procedures, easier recoveries, safer surgeries and a better esthetic outcome.

INTRA-ORAL CAMERAS

Intra-oral cameras are an excellent way of allowing you (or your general dentist) to view potential dental conditions inside your mouth. Dr. Boquel often takes intra-oral images particularly when performing soft tissue procedures like gum grafting and other esthetic procedures. This allows for precise viewing of “before and after” conditions that are helpful for your general dentist. These images can sometimes make the difference with insurance companies that have initially denied coverage after they are able to see successful results in actual photographs.

DIGITAL IMPRESSIONS

Messy gloppy impressions used to be unavoidable in producing a replica of your teeth and gums. Dr. Boquel’s offices are able to avoid traditional impression trays by digitally scanning your teeth and mouth – with minimal intrusion or discomfort - to produce precise and sophisticated models used by dentists and dental labs to fabricate everything from single tooth crowns to whole mouth restorations. By gently placing a small, handheld and sterilized scanning wand into your mouth, our computer system captures highly detailed images and dimensions of teeth and gums. The images appear instantly on a monitor and can be sent to a dental lab for use in creating tailored dental work.

ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS

Dr. Boquel’s offices communicate on a daily basis with your general dentist and with other dental/medical care practitioners on an as needed basis. After every evaluation and procedure performed, Dr. Boquel drafts a letter to document the visit and to fully inform your general dentist of exactly what happened and when it happened. These letters are emailed to your general dentist so that they are received immediately upon completion. Copies of x-rays are shared electronically as well. Professional, modern and caring dental treatment is enhanced by this complete and transparent sharing of information.

HALF MOUTH AND WHOLE MOUTH RESTORATIONS

Dr. Boquel is able to evaluate and restore teeth in one entire arch of your mouth or your entire mouth (both arches). He performs these restorations in close contact with, and as part of the team working closely with, your general dentist. Partnering with a professional and modern dental lab located in the greater Washington, DC area, the number of appointments can be greatly reduced and, in many cases, the dental lab, comes to Dr. Boquel’s office so that the patient need not drive back and forth to many different locations. These procedures are perfectly suited to the patient who has lost multiple teeth – or who is in danger of losing multiple teeth – for any number of reasons from poor dental care as a child to systemic and pervasive medical conditions/diseases.
